DAUBIGNY






The Daubigny Family was an artists family whose most famous members were Charles-François Daubigny and his son Karl.


Charles-François Daubigny (1817-1878) Painter of water and light. He has been an ardent defendant of Impressionnists and can be considered as their precursor. He gave his name to the Museum since he is the first artist, being installed in the city where he has lived for about 20 years. Friend of Corot and Daumier, he gathered around him lots of artists. The gift done in 1987 by Anne & Daniel Raskin Daubigny is made of paintings, drawings, engravings and remembrances. Since the founding of the Museum, others artworks of Charles-François, but from his students, his followers and oil paintings from his son Karl too, have been added to the collection.


Karl Daubigny (1846-1886) has been the student of his father with whom he came along very oftenly, for painting. He shown too in his artworks the Oise riverbanks and the Normandy Coast, in romantic and constrastful colours.
